To have a customer service background, knowledge of AV equipment, interest in Equine, confidence in interaction, and availability to work long hours.
Benefits and Opportunities:
The pay as a part-time intern is $9.00/hour. I would typically work 30-35 hours a week as a part time student. There are many great benefits and perks of working at the Equine Complex. Many events will cater breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner and I have received countless amazing meals from all over the area. Other times decorations are no longer needed after an event and are given to me such as flowers, food, drinks, table decor, etc. I have received a few thank you items for my work with groups such as cards, flowers, tumblers, and candy. Beyond the material items there are unlimited networking opportunities. Many events from University groups are held here. I have met an outstanding number of alumni, professors, Reveille, and other officials from around Texas and the US.
Achievements:
I have developed many new skills from working at the Hildebrand Equine Complex. Skills that I have learned are in AV equipment, Equine Industry, meeting with clients, gaining confidence, engagement in conversation, customer satisfaction, and a great mentor/boss. Steve Canon, the General Manager of the Equine Complex, took numerous learning opportunities to teach and explain something new to me. For example, prior to my internship I did not know much about horses and Steve introduced me to the sport of Equestrian and how to manage the facilities.
